The Rock has been a part of many franchises, but you can count out San Andreas becoming a series of films. A sequel for that 2015 disaster film is not happening.

San Andreas made $474 million on a $110 million budget, so it was a financial success. That monetary accomplishment will not cause a second film to find its way into the pipeline.

Alexandra Daddario, who starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in the movie, recently spoke to Collider. She is out plugging her Die in a Gunfight film, but they asked her about the possibility of getting another San Andrea experience. The sequel was in development by Warner Bros for a time, but fans shouldn’t hold out much hope about seeing that come to fruition now.

“It was mentioned to me several years ago when I went in to New Line. I don’t think that the exec that I was speaking to is there anymore. But they had a draft written. As far as I know, it’s not happening. It’s been a long time. I don’t think so. I think it was in development at one point, I should say. But that happens in Hollywood all the time.”

There will be no shortage of films with The Rock in them. San Andreas was a fun movie, but it will probably serve as a one-off. It would still be interesting how they planned on destroying the planet next time around.
