Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner’s names are known throughout the world. but the unemployment office didn’t bother to check when someone used their names to file for benefits.

Someone in Michigan used Kim and Kylie’s names to file for unemployment. The state didn’t check up on this at all, so they dished out eight weeks of checks, around $7 to those scammers.

Those payments landed days before the system flagged those filings and then they requested more verification confirmation. Sadly, thousands of claims have been approved during the pandemic, and around 10% of them are false. They approved those claims because thousand were coming in and they couldn’t keep up.

They’re cracking down on this issue now, but that doesn’t stop some scammers from trying their luck at defrauding the system. The attorney general said that dozens of people have been fired and they are also investigating more cases of fraudulent claims.

For the record, Kim and Kylie are doing just fine financially. They won’t be filing for unemployment ever in their lifetime. Both are incredibly rich from their reality television careers and other endorsement deals. It’s a wonder that both names slipped through the cracks. Perhaps, those scammers weren’t aware of the names they picked for their heist.
