Michael Jordan is highly regarded as the best who ever played the game of basketball, but many modern fans might see LeBron James in that role. If you ask MJ, they are not close to each other yet.

While speaking to Cigar Aficionado, Jordan remarked about comparisons he receives to LeBron and vise versa. We’ll have to see if future generations see King James on Michael Jordan’s legendary level, but Jordan said it will take about twenty years before that can realistically happen.

“So, in essence, it’s all elevated on who is watching now. If you ask 20 years from now, I’m pretty sure LeBron may be me, you know, based on who’s going to be making the voting. … If you ask me, I can never give you an opinion about things like that because as an athlete, all you want to do is be the best athlete you can do.

LeBron James might have taken Michael Jordan’s spot in the Space Jam franchise, but history has yet to place them next to each other. We’ll have to see how nostalgia and time changes things.

Michael Jordan always wanted to be the best athlete he could be, which is something that LeBron James strives for as well. Obviously, the two will continue to be compared with each other, and the debate will likely be a strong conversation starter within the fanbase for a long time to come.
