The rivalry between Conor Mcgregor and Dustin Poirier reached a whole new level as it culminated in the main event of UFC 264, as the two fighters took each other on in the highly anticipated fight.

In a very shocking finish to the fight, Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round and Dustin Poirier was declared the winner via TKO after the fight ended due to doctor’s stoppage.

Many fans felt dejected by the outcome of the fight, but also made sure to laugh at Conor McGregor failing to win due to the unexpected injury. He was carried out on a stretcher, a fact that didn’t leave Khabib Nurmagomedov.

There was also a lot of debate as to how Conor McGregor broke his ankle in the first place. A doctor would dismiss a claim made by Dustin Poirier regarding the injury. Conor McGregor took to his Instagram and uploaded a video where McGregor claimed that he already had stress fractures in his leg going into the fight.

“I was injured going into the fight. People are asking me, when was the leg broke? At what point did the leg break? Ask Dana White, ask the UFC, ask Dr Davidson, the head doctor of the UFC. I had stress fractures in my leg going into that cage

It was previously reported that Conor McGregor will be out of action until next year. The fourth fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier was already confirmed by Dana White. We will have to wait and see if Conor McGregor will be in good shape once he makes his return to the Octagon.
