You never know what can happen online. Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy certainly didn’t plan on getting suspended from Twitter today. That’s exactly what ended up happening.

Someone came at $PENN for being a waste of their shareholders’ money. Then Barstool President and Founder Dave Portnoy replied saying:

So sell it. Mark your calendar. Dm me 1 year from today. Let me drop my nuts on your head.

This post from Portnoy got him suspended from Twitter. It is not clear if he will be back. People reacted in a huge way and a hashtag movement was started soon after that.

#FreeDavePortnoy trended on Twitter and tons of fans commented on why they want or didn’t want Portnoy back on the platform. Others were quick to point out how Twitter has suspended both Portnoy and Donald Trump, two presidents. Yes, they shared a photo of Portnoy with the former POTUS.

“A national treasure has been silenced! What’s the deal, @jack?” was one popular response. Others had a different way of reacting to the now-suspended president’s suspension, “First they came for Martin Shkreli, then they came for John W. B. Rich, now they’ve come for the only financial advisor I trust – Dave Portnoy.”

We’ll have to see if Dave Portnoy gets out of Twitter Jail. In the meantime, a hashtag to free him is still gaining steam.

What’s your take on this situation? Should Twitter have suspended Dave Portnoy?
