Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the GOAT, and his rookie card commands that kind of price tag. 18 years after MJ retired from the game, he still remains one of the most popular ever.

In January 2021, a pair of mint-condition Jordan 1986 Fleer rookie cards sold for $738,000 each at auction. This was an enormous price increase from the last sale of the same card.

A month prior to that massive auction, a similar card sold on eBay for $200k. Obvioulsy, the high-dollar auction with Goldin Auctions was the way to go as the seller saw a 269% price increase.

The sporting card market is going through the roof. Tom Brady’s rookie card recently sold for over $2.5 million. It looks like people might need to start rummaging through storage in search for that childhood card collection.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
