Update: Rapper DaBaby has been released without any charges after being questioned for hours by Miami detectives over the shooting incident allegedly involving his entourage.

Original: DaBaby is in a lot of trouble right now and his big name in the rap community might not get him out of this jam. He was allegedly involved in a shooting at Miami’s high-end South Beach. Two people were injured in the gun battle.

Miami Beach Police Department spokesman confirmed the news to Local 10 News on Tuesday morning that “several possible subjects” were detained. DaBaby is currently one of those people in police custody.

This shooting went down late on Monday night. The victims’ identities have not been revealed at this time. Page Six reports that DaBaby and his entourage had problems with people next to them. Then things popped off in a big way.

“DaBaby and his crew had an issue with people right next to them in the car. DaBaby and his crew were traveling in around six SUVs, and either a car pulled up on them and started something or their doors hit each other and they got in a fight.”

“Rumor has it that DaBaby and 10 to 12 members of his entourage have been detained by police.”

The shooting allegedly took place just after 11:30 p.m. near the corner of Ocean Drive and First Street. Detectives have shut down MacArthur Causeway looking for a shooter.

A neighbor named Dimitri James said, “I thought I heard like, it might have been a gun battle because it was like, ‘boom, boom, boom, boom boom,’ just nonstop. Then it died out, and like five minutes later, again, ‘boom, boom, boom, boom.’”

This is not DaBaby’s first run-in with the law. He has numerous instances of minor offenses such as possession of marijuana. He was found guilty in 2019 for carrying a concealed gun and sentences to one year of probation after a fatal shooting at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina. His judge later determined that DaBaby acted in self defense.
