It seems for this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, the company will be going all out in order to ensure that it is going to be a night of memorable moments and solid in-ring action.
As reported earlier, rapping sensation Cardi B is set to be the highly-anticipated host of WWE SummerSlam this year. While Cardi B is certainly well-known in the modern Hip-Hop world and pop culture, it seems a pro wrestling veteran doesn’t think too highly of her.
While speaking on his ‘Jim Cornette Experience’ podcast, Jim Cornette noted how a match between John Cena and Roman Reigns would be a great deal. After that he then talked about Cardi B as a host, stating that he doubts Cardi B will be able to draw as much as John Cena.
“They have a lot of hosts. Cena will draw, I’m not sure Cardi B will. I’ve heard the name Cardi B and I’ve seen pictures of Cardi B on Twitter while scrolling. If you held a gun to my head I couldn’t tell you what she’s sung. I assume she’s a rapper, most people with initials in their name tend to be rappers these days.”[…] They might actually get somebody outside of the small bubble of people that watch shows these days by having John Cena’s return to the ring. I don’t know about Cardi B.”
Cardi B might be one of the most popular female rappers out there right now, but she is not without her fair share of controversies. We will have to wait and see how Cardi B will fare as the host of the SummerSlam pay-per-view this year.
