Ryan Seacrest is one of the longtime personalities of ‘American Idol.’ Now that the season just ended, Seacrest ended up arousing some controversy and outrage from fans on Twitter after he brought up something unpleasant from the finalist Chayce Beckham’s past.

After Beckham’s first performance in the finale, where he singed out to The Beatles’ Blackbird, he received words of praise from the judges. Luke Bryan even stated that he will take Beckham for a bass fishing trip as soon as the finale was finished.

Afterwards, Seacrest made his way to the stage and said  “This may be shocking to you but that might involve some beer.” Beckham, being quick on his feet, replied with “You think so?”

While it’s still unconfirmed whether Seacrest made the comment with regards to Beckham’s severe drinking history or was it a reference to the celebratory nature of the arrangement, the comment still aroused hate and criticism from fans on social media.

Beckham had revealed his emotional struggle early on in the season, which had been a strong pull for the fans. While they spent so long connecting with a fantastic singer over a vulnerability that is much like theirs, a joke from Seacrest referring to it had to be devastating for some.

Do you think Ryan Seacrest was making the joke with all the dots connected or was it a simple attempt at light-hearted humors? Let us know in the comments down below!
