The COVID-19 pandemic took over the entire world since last year and has affected every sport out there, including professional basketball. A year on, COVID-19 vaccines are being administered to the general public and it seems there is a huge divide between those who are eager to take the vaccine and those who don’t want to.
It seems LeBron James falls under the second category as it seems he is still not making it clear whether he will get vaccinated or not. This has been going on since as early as March of this year. On Friday, LeBron James was asked by reporters whether he will be taking the vaccine or not.
LeBron James decided to dodge the question and not give a direct answer yet again as he continued to give an ambiguous answer and even said it was not a big deal when directly asked about taking a vaccine.
“Anything I do off the floor is predicated to my family, for the majority — for 99.9% of that. So it’s about the health and safety of my family, and that’s what it came down to. Me being available to my teammates on the floor is me taking care of my body. Me doing everything I can do to make sure I’m available both mentally, physically and spiritually, as well. But anything of that nature, that’s all family talk.”
NBA introduced a very strict COVID-19 health and safety protocol, which has sidelined many top players this season, including Lakers guard Dennis Schroder. It seems James will be getting punished for violating the protocol after attending a party with rapper Drake recently.
It seems LeBron James is being very cautious when it comes to his answer and we can’t exactly blame him as it is likely James will be on the receiving end of a huge backlash regardless of what his take is.
