In the main event of UFC 261, Kamaru Usman defended his Welterweight Championship against Jorge Masvidal. Usman ended up defeating Masvidal in the second round of the fight via knockout and retained his Championship.
Conor McGregor and Kamaru Usman certainly have beef with one another and it has been well documented. McGregor previously called out Usman for copying his moves and words and also called him a ‘juice head.’
The two continue to engage in a war of words and it won’t be stopping anytime soon. While speaking to ESPN MMA, Kamaru Usman was asked what he thought of Conor McGregor. Usman didn’t mind any words as he spoke his mind and put McGregor on blast for being a loudmouth and talking more than fighting.
“Loudmouth; just a loudmouth. He (Conor McGregor) does more talking now than he does fighting. If he wants to fight me, he knows where to find me. He can call me, and we’ll make that fight happen.’
Right now, it’s more of a loudmouth. He’s a loudmouth. It’s a guy that can compete, but he’s not the ‘champion’ Conor McGregor. He’s not the double champion. He’s not that guy anymore. He’s just a guy that’s in the UFC. Now if he wasn’t Conor; hasn’t done the things that he’s done; he would just be a regular fighter. That’s probably the level of respect he gets now. It’s just he’s a regular fighter with a lot of money and a lot of hype and recognition. But the old Conor, the hungry Conor, that was the fighter that fighters respected. Now – not that we don’t respect him at all – he’s still a UFC fighter. But he’s just a regular fighter.’
Those were certainly some scathing words from Kamaru Usman. Currently, McGregor has yet to respond to what Usman said. Regardless of whether McGregor fights Usman or not, he still has Dustin Poirier to contend with as the two will face off against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 11th. We will have to see who will come out on top in the upcoming fight.
