As seen on Sunday’s WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view, The Miz squared off against Damian Priest in a Lumberjack match. In a shocking twist, the lumberjacks turned out to be zombies. Nobody expected that at all.

Prior to the start of the show, Batista took to Twitter and revealed that he won’t be present for the show but some of his “friends” would be there. The friends turned out to be the aforementioned zombies.

Wishing good luck to all the WWE Superstars competing tonight at #WMBacklash. Sorry I couldn’t make it … but some of my friends will. #ArmyOfTheDead @WWE

Damian Priest won the match and then The Miz and John Morrison were ‘eaten alive’ by the zombies. The inclusion of zombies was met with a lot of negative reception from fans. It was all an Army Of The Dead tie-in.

One fan in particular took to Twitter and tweeted to Batista, stating the inclusion of zombies at WrestleMania Backlash was insulting. Batista saw this tweet and replied to the fan. The Animal revealed that he had nothing to do with the match and told the fan to tweet to Vince McMahon instead.

Wtf you telling me?!! You think I booked a bunch of fucking zombies. I’m on a damn plane! Shouldn’t you be tweeting Vince?!

WWE’s attempt to plug the Army Of The Dead movie certainly didn’t go as well as they had hoped and it ultimately affected the overall quality of WrestleMania Backlash. We can only imagine that WWE got a nice payday out of the deal.
