Bill Gates is about to be a single man, and he’s also about to know how painful divorce can be for a billionaire.

Gates and his wife Melinda are separating. Bill Gates is 65-years-old and is divorcing his 56-year-old author wife, saying that they cannot grow together as a couple anymore.

Melinda made the announcement on Twitter to let everyone know what is going on in their new life journey.

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” she wrote. “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a believer in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

Bill Gates also shared the same message on his Twitter account.

Bill and Melinda have done a lot of good as a couple, establishing the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. That foundation is one of the largest charities in the world worth over $46.8 billion.

The couple has three children, Jennifer, 25, Rory, 21, and Phoebe, 18. The divorce proceedings could get very pricy on this split. Bill Gates’ net worth is currently sitting at $130 billion.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
