Kobe Bryant is no longer with us, but his legacy continues. A lot of memorabilia skyrocketed in value as fans wanted to own a piece of Kobe’s legacy. That means his rookie season jersey is pretty valuable.

Bryant’s 1996 rookie season jersey could reach estimates of $500k at auction as Goldin Auctions puts it up for the highest bidder according to TMZ Sports.

This jersey is very special as Kobe wore it at 18-years-old. He was fresh off the 13th pick in the NBA draft, and wearing Lakers gold for the first time in his 23rd NBA game ever. The jersey is from when the Lakers took on the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 8th, 1996.

Kobe Bryant wasn’t even a starter yet, but he played 22 minutes in that jersey, dropping 11 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds during his time in the game. The Lakers won 110 to 86 that night.

Bryant’s jersey could break the record currently held by Michael Jordan’s Washington Wizards jersey from his last ever NBA game in 2003 which sold for $570k.

Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
