Kayne West has a certain style and his sneakers always make a bold statement. His Grammy-worn shoes recently went for INSANE money as one superfan dropped nearly $2 million.

The prototype Nike Air Yeezy 1 that Kayne wore at the 2008 Grammys just sold for $1.8 million at auction. This is according to Sotherby’s, who brokered the huge private sale.

He wore those shoes while performing “Hey Mama” and “Stronger” on stage.

This is a record-breaking sale. It marks the first pair of shoes to sell for over $1 million. The previous high was $615k for a pair of 1985 Nike Air Jordan 1s that MJ wore when he broke that backboard during an Italian preseason game.

Now we get to who dropped nearly $2 mil on a pair of used shoes. The buyer is actually a sneaker investment marketplace called RARES. Odds are those shoes will go up for sale again, and they’ll cost a ton when that happens.

If you’re thinking that’s a lot to pay for shoes, then you’re 100% correct. We’ll have to see if RARES get the money back from this investment.
