A man claiming to be Conor McGregor was caught trying to hide a stash of cell phones and drugs. It wasn’t McGregor, and that clever ruse didn’t work out too well in the end.

An English man named Mark Nye was sentenced to three years behind bars after pleading guilty to possession of class A drugs with the intent to supply. This same 34-year-old also told police he was the famous UFC fighter.

Nye and McGregor do really resemble each other. He obviously knew this because Nye had “McGregor Enterprises” business cards in his car at the time of his arrest. The cards, proclaiming Nye had the “best drops in Surrey,” were used to market his drug-dealing.

This plan did not turn out like he thought it would. The real Conor McGregor is still preparing for his fight in July against Dustin Poinier. Meanwhile, his look-alike is going to prison.

H Jenkins

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
