Scottie Pippen went through a heartbreaking tragedy when his first-born son Antron passed away at 33-years-old. He dropped a heartfelt message in his memory to mourn.

The NBA legend posted a photo of himself with Antron on Instagram. His caption was heartbreaking as he said goodbye to his son. He had hopes of Antron making it in the NBA, but that didn’t happen for him due to suffering from chronic asthma. A cause of death has not been revealed at this time.

I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game. Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though—Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became. Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again

Antron was born in 1987 with Scottie’s first wife Karen McCollum. Scottie and Karen were married in 1988. They then divorced in 1990. Scottie Pippen has four other children with his second wife Larsa Pippen

With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
