LL Cool J Rejects Label As ‘Forefather Of Pop Rap’

LL Cool J is celebrating a 40 year career in entertainment and he’s not done yet. He has gone by many names, but don’t call him a pop rapper. LL isn’t cool with that.

While he has crossed over many times in his career, LL Cool J does not consider himself in the pop world at all. He did blaze a trail for other acts to follow, but the words “pop music” doesn’t mix well with him.

The legendary rapper jumped on Twitter and addressed this mislabeling in a very public manner.

Me being called the forefather of pop rap is very confusing. What the f*ck are you talking about?? LOL

He might be a bit confused, but there is no shade behind that label. Fans still consider LL Cool J as a “forefather,” but the genre of music certainly isn’t his cup of tea.
