Holly Holm Wants A Rematch Against Returning Miesha Tate

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate is returning to the UFC after having retired in 2016. Tate is scheduled to fight Marion Reneau on July 17th and has aspirations to become a Champion in the company once again.

Back in January 2016, Tate defeated Holly Holm via submission to become the UFC Bantamweight Champion. The match was Holm’s first title defense after having won the strap from Ronda Rousey, who she had dominated a few months prior in an iconic match.

Holm was recently asked in an interview with ESPN+, if she wants a rematch against the returning Tate. To that, Holm said that although her primary goal is to win the belt again, she isn’t going to let an opportunity to avenge a loss pass.

My plan is to compete for the belt, so if that fight ends up being on the way there, then absolutely. I always like to avenge losses no matter what, so yes, I would like to do that, but I think sometimes you can get so fixated on one fight that you’re not focused on whatever is coming your way.

She also said that if a fight against Tate comes up before a potential title shot, she’d still take it and get her W against her old foe first.

Whatever gets you to the belt, that’s my ultimate goal and it would be awesome if I could go through and do it all. Avenge my loss (to Tate), then go to the belt.

Fans would be ecstatic to see the two women lock horns in the Octagon once again. A match of this caliber could also main event a pay-per-view, if UFC decides to promote it right.
