Jenni “JWoww” Farley went in all guns blazing and compared a no-makeup Instagram selfie to a heavily filtered version on Monday, speaking out about the power of photo editing in the process. Her caption read:
“Laying here bored and saw this app… so I said “why not?” …WTF. I’d rather be old and ugly,”
The “Jersey Shore” star spoke about the negative effects of beauty filters telling everyone to “love yourself.” While several fans pointed out that Farley had access to countless cosmetic treatments over the years, with many of her MTV co-stars opting for Botox.
One comment, read
“True love, but you have endless money for all the medspa and injections…Many of your followers don’t… It makes a difference in the #nofilter pics.”
Farley was quick to acknowledge her privilege.
Another commenter stated that beauty filters “basically adds makeup,” and could be considered in tandem with the effect of lipstick, foundation and other beauty products.
The reality star retorted:
“Made my face all baby smooth with a ring light glow,”
Farley has gone filter-free in past as well when she’s posted barefaced selfies to squash plastic surgery rumors.
While beauty filters still remain controversial, it is truly refreshing to see stars like Farley embrace their natural beauty and show us their ‘un-glam’ side as well.
