UFC fighters often find themselves around each other, but you won’t catch Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier rubbing elbows backstage.

During ESPN’s DC & Helwani, Cormier revealed that he is kept from being around Jon Jones. If they are in the same arena, UFC makes sure that they don’t come in contact with each other.

Cormier and Jones are huge rivals in the UFC and they have some heated history. They have fought twice, and there is obviously still angst between them. Daniel Cormier explained that the practice of keeping him away from Jones goes on to this day.

“[The UFC] won’t let us in the same place still to this day. If I’m working commentary and Jones has a press event or something, they keep us as far apart as possible. Because they understand, this is real life, son. This is real life.”

Jones has publicly said that there won’t be a third fight with DC. That might be for the best.

Cormier and Jones got way physical during a media event before UFC 178 in 2014. You can check that out below.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
