Mariah Carey’s estranged brother Morgan Carey has decided to take his issues with his sister to the court. Morgan had been planning on taking legal actions against his sister since November after Mariah Carey made several claims about him in her 2020 memoir : “The Meaning of Mariah Carey”.
TMZ reports that Morgan believes his sister’s claims has ruined his reputation. In her book, Mariah wrote of a violent fight that broke out between her father and her brother and also claimed that he was aggressive and violent towards their mother as well.
Following are the highlighted passages from the book used by Morgan to support his defamation lawsuit against his sister:
“It took twelve cops to pull my brother and father apart. The big bodies of men, all entangled like a swirling hurricane, crashed loudly into the living room. I was a little girl with very few memories of a big brother who protected me. More often, I felt I had to protect myself from him, and sometimes I would find myself protecting my mother from him too.”
“Suddenly there was a loud, sharp noise, like an actual gunshot. My brother had pushed my mother with such force that her body slammed into the wall, making a loud cracking sound.”
Morgan says that these passages paint him as a violent person and that he never really fought with his parents at the time when Mariah was a child. According to him, he and his mother shared a strong bond with each other and that Mariah contradicts herself later on in the same book where she quotes her mother saying “Morgan is the only one I love.”
According to the report, Morgan Carey is suing Mariah for defamation and intentional infliction or emotional distress. No comment has been made from Mariah Carey’s side as of this writing.
