BTS fans have another reason to be very happy right now. The K-Pop supergroup pulled down another big award, beating out the biggest names in music.

IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award goes to BTS for 2020.

This award is calculated by accumulating the worldwide performance of an artist or group across digital and physical media. BTS pulled down the #1 spot for 2020. Essentially it means that BTS was the most listened to group on this planet last year.

This award was given at the end of the IFPI Global Artist Chart, which counted down the top 10 best-selling artists of the year globally. Past winners include:

2019 – Taylor Swift
2018 – Drake
2017 – Ed Sheeran
2016 – Drake
2015 – Adele
2014 – Taylor Swift
2013 – One Direction

As you can see in the graphic below, BTS beat out Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Eminem and more. This is quite an impressive achievement and it marks the group’s first win for this award. It also shows that a lot of people might have gotten into K-Pop during quarantine.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
