Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle left the royal family last year and decided to move to Los Angeles. This news shocked the world and it generated a lot of controversy within the United Kingdom.
Recently, Prince Harry appeared on the Late Show with James Corden where he talked about the reasons behind his exit from the royal family. Harry said that he never really exited the royal family but instead took a step back.
He said that he took this decision to protect his and his family’s mental health. He blamed the British media for being toxic and said that this was “destroying” his mental health.
It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment. As I think a lot of people saw, we all know what the British press can be like, and it was destroying my mental health. This is toxic. I did what any husband, any father would do. I needed to get my family out of here.
Harry and Meghan Markle will not be returning as working members of the royal family, per the Buckingham Palace. The two will continue to build their own independent life away from the regal limelight.
