The sequel to the much-beloved ‘Coming To America’ movie, which is aptly titled ‘Coming 2 America’ will be making its release very soon. It will feature Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes, who will be reprising their roles from the original film.

The sequel might not have even happened as Murphy and Arsenio Hall promised not to make a sequel to the original film, but they weren’t able to resist the chance after so many years.

While speaking to The New York Times, Eddie Murphy revealed that he was pitched another idea for ‘Coming 2 America’ by ‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler. It was going to star Michael B. Jordan, who played the role of Killmonger in the aforementioned film.

However, it seems due to differences in creative vision and what they wanted to do with the film, Murphy ultimately rejected the idea entirely.

“[Coogler] had an idea for Michael B. Jordan to play my son and he would be looking for a wife. I was like, then the movie would be about the son, it’s not our characters, we already did that. It didn’t come together.”

‘Coming 2 American’ is set to released on Amazon Prime on March 5th of this year. We will have to see how the film is received by fans and critics.
