Bobby Shmurda had a very big day today, but it wasn’t just because he got out of the slammer. The rapper also saw a ton of records fly off the digital shelves and he had some big news waiting on him. Two songs were certified platinum on the day he became a free man once again.

Shmurda was behind bars for six years, and that felony criminal possession of a weapon charge is taken care of. Now that he’s paid his debt to society, the rapper is getting paid for real.

The RIAA granted him four new certifications including two certified platinum songs. His song “Hot N****” is now a 5-time Platinum record with 5 million units sold. His song “Bobby Bitch” also earned platinum status.

Also, Rowdy Rebel’s Computers, which Shmurda was featured on, earned a gold certification today. Shmurda’s EP Shmurda She Wrote went gold as well.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
