Amazon’s Packaging Machines Expected To Replace Innumerable Workers

As automation becomes more and more prominent, things will change in a big way. One of the ways this is happening right now is how Amazon is approaching the manufacturing & packaging of its products.

The tech giant is on the verge of replacing all of its workers with a new automated packaging machine. This packaging machine is very fast and efficient. It can scan and wrap up packages at a rate that blows human labor out of water.

One machine being placed at a warehouse means that about 24 of the employees will lose their job. The board at Amazon is still keeping up the debate over the matter, deciding whether they should accelerate the process of automation or keep the human laborers.

As a better option, Amazon is giving its workers the option that you could either quit or start a business as a contractor. Amazon is then willing to provide the contractors with a $10,000 package to support their venture.

“Amazon says it will cover up to $10,000 in startup costs for employees who are accepted into the program and leave their jobs. Those who participate will be able to lease blue vans with the Amazon smile logo stamped on the side. The company says it will also pay them three months’ worth of their salary.”
